Spartan 6 based RIVYERA available

January 16th, 2011 - SciEngines is happy to announce the newest member of the RIVYERA computing-architecture - the RIVYERA S6-LX150(T). This high-performance reconfigurable computer provides up to 128 FPGAs of the type Xilinx Spartan-6 LX150 or LX150T. It has been further enhanced to provide up to 2.5 GByte RAM per FPGA (320 GB for a full-scale computer) and 128 GByte of shared memory - accessed with an aggregate bandwidth of more than 100 GByte/s. Connectivity between the integrated Host-PC, which also acts as an interface to the rest of the network, and the FPGA-supercomputer section is achieved via up to seven 16-lane PCIe cards. The consistently low energy-consumption of 650 Watts, in combination with unlimited scalability and low space requirements of only 3U in a 42U standard server rack, makes the RIVYERA S6-LX150(T) a perfect choice for high-performance computing of individuals, workgroups and central computing-facilities of any size. First performance benchmarks show more than 1600 CPU cores performance for a bioinformatics algorithm (Smith-Waterman) and more than 15000 CPU cores for a cryptanalysis application (AES robustness tests).
